Citizenship

Canada is a country filled with opportunities for all individuals seeking to settle down there. Whether you are coming to study, visit, or work, there are numerous pathways to reach your immigration goals. In some cases, many foreigners decide they would like to become permanent residents and eventually Canadian citizens down the road. You must have physically resided in Canada for at least 3 years (1,095 days) during the previous five years in order to be eligible to apply for citizenship. But, keep in mind that not every day is equal when it comes to eligibility for Canadian citizenship. Only if you were physically present in Canada as a permanent resident are days counted by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) as “full days.” In order to satisfy the physical presence criterion just to meet the residency obligation to be able to renew the PR card, you must have lived in Canada as a permanent resident for at least two years (730 days).
